About SIL LEAD

SIL LEAD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping minority language communities achieve their education and development goals while celebrating their unique languages and cultures.

SIL LEAD has three main areas of focus: minority language curriculum and education materials development, capacity building among minority language teachers to use local languages as an effective medium of instruction and supporting minority communities as they advocate for the use of their own languages in education.

The literacy experts at SIL LEAD come from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Many of our experienced consultants have helped start and sustain successful multilingual education programs in a variety of different cultural contexts. SIL LEAD's talent base is also comprised of experienced senior administrators, researchers, curriculum and training specialists and language program coordinators to the table.

Other areas of expertise include: first-language reading pedadogy, extension of first-language literacy skills into other languages, d
eveloping reading instruction materials, training members of  minority language communities to write and edit their own literature, training of teachers, supervisors, and trainers in the effective use of local languages as media of instruction, community mobilization, advocacy and development of local literature.
