The Orthography Assessment Score Sheet helps guide the assessment of a given language's orthography to judge its readiness to be used in the preparation of pedagogical materials.

The score sheet covers thirteen parameters under the headings of Orthography Guide, Writing/Spelling Rules, and the Orthography and Community. An orthography is evaluated on a scale of 0-4 for the 13 parameters. An average score of 3 is considered satisfactory; a score below 2.5 indicates that significant work may be needed prior to using the orthography for preparing materials.
